Systems Developer (MS6174)

Role Description

Working within the MIS team of Computing Services, we have an exciting vacancy for a Systems Developer specialising in some of the University's core MIS systems. 

The Strategic Systems team aims to provide an excellent service to our key business customers including the sections responsible for Finance, Research, HR and Estates. As a systems developer, you will take responsibility for development projects through the full life cycle including ongoing support, liaising closely with key stakeholders with an emphasis on the Research Innovation Services department. 

Skills

  • Customer care; providing day to day specialist systems support, as escalated through 1stand 2nd tier level support channels. Ensuring your customers are engaged, informed and empowered by developing tools and documents which promote best practice.
  • Technical expertise; we are looking for you to bring your technical management of software systems to this role. Knowledge of Elsevier Pure would be an advantage. Your role will include support (involving liason with the supplier), development and management of on-going upgrades in order to provide the high level of service required. 
  • Project management; managing the life cycle of core system enhancements and key developments. This involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders from requirements analysis through to design, testing and implementation. Effective project management experience is preferred however, we can offer development in this this area if needed.
